What this is for

A printed panel with a clear laminating tail that wraps over the legend and seals it. That is what survives repeated re-patching, where a plain flag label peels within months. Order both ends: a cable labelled at one end only is a cable you still have to trace.

In service

Wrapped around the cable a hand span from the connector, at both ends. The printed panel takes the legend and the clear tail wraps over it, so the print is sealed inside the wrap rather than exposed on the outside of it.

How it fails

Self laminating labels fail when applied to a cable thinner than they were sized for: the tail over-wraps onto itself, the panel puckers, and the legend distorts enough to misread a port number.

Who fills it in

The installer, at termination, before the cable is dressed into the bundle. Labelling after dressing is how both ends end up with the same number.

How it is made

Self-laminating vinyl - a printed panel with a clear tail that wraps over it, so the printing ends up sealed under a layer of the label itself. That is what survives being pulled through a tray and handled repeatedly, where a plain printed wrap abrades to nothing at the first pull.

What to check on the proof

The from and to fields, and how much of the printed panel the clear tail will cover. The printed area is smaller than the label, which surprises people the first time - check the longest circuit name you actually use, not a representative one.

Common questions

How long does vinyl last on network cable?

A year or more depending on exposure, longer indoors. Less durable than polyester under solvents and less permanent than metal. It is a good general answer and rarely the best one for an extreme. For network cable specifically, the question to ask is where the units actually sit: the same stock behaves very differently in a conditioned corridor and in an unconditioned plant room.

What does LBL-CABLE-WRAP cost at my volume?

$0.28 per unit at 250, falling to $0.21 at 2,500 - about 25 percent less per unit at the top break. The full table is on this page and there is no quote step. The entry break is 250 units and the top break is 2,500. Per unit that is a 1.3 times difference, which is worth doing the arithmetic on rather than guessing: take your annual device count, add what you expect to add this year, add about ten percent for spoilage and re-tags, and order to the break that number crosses. Buying past it is buying storage rather than savings, and stock held for years is stock that outlives a licence renewal or a change of address.

How fast will LBL-CABLE-WRAP ship?

Production runs four to five business days plus transit. Synthetic stocks need a cure or dwell step after printing that card does not, which is where the extra day goes. You approve a print accurate proof before payment is taken, and that proof comes from the same engine that generates the file the press receives, so what you approve is what gets printed. There is no separate proofing round trip by email.

Do I have to use the serialization on LBL-CABLE-WRAP?

Each unit prints with a unique code and a QR. The first scan binds it to a device and a location; every scan after that opens the inspection form for that device type and writes a permanent record. The building owner and the authority having jurisdiction can scan the same code and read the history without an account or a phone call. If you never scan anything, the service label still works as an ordinary one, so nothing is lost by ignoring the feature.

Proof approval, reprints and what happens if an order arrives wrong are the same for every product: how ordering works.
