What this is for

Contents legend, flow arrow, and the ASME A13.1 colour pairing for the material class. Sized for two to six inch pipe. Get the colour pairing right rather than picking what looks clear: the scheme is what a responder reads before opening a valve, and a non standard colour actively misleads.

In service

Wrapped around the pipe at valves, branches and wall penetrations, sized so the legend faces the walkway. Outdoor grade vinyl is used because a marker in a mechanical room still sees condensation running down the pipe.

How it fails

Markers fail by pointing the wrong way. A wrap applied without thinking about the approach leaves the legend facing a wall, and a firefighter tracing a line at three in the morning reads nothing.

Who fills it in

Printed with contents and flow direction. The arrow is the part people get wrong at install, and it is the part that matters in an emergency.

Common questions

How long does vinyl last on pipe run?

A year or more depending on exposure, longer indoors. Less durable than polyester under solvents and less permanent than metal. It is a good general answer and rarely the best one for an extreme. For pipe run specifically, the question to ask is where the units actually sit: the same stock behaves very differently in a conditioned corridor and in an unconditioned plant room.

What does PIP-MARK-VIN cost at my volume?

$1.90 per unit at 50, falling to $1.41 at 500 - about 26 percent less per unit at the top break. The full table is on this page and there is no quote step. The entry break is 50 units and the top break is 500. Per unit that is a 1.3 times difference, which is worth doing the arithmetic on rather than guessing: take your annual device count, add what you expect to add this year, add about ten percent for spoilage and re-tags, and order to the break that number crosses. Buying past it is buying storage rather than savings, and stock held for years is stock that outlives a licence renewal or a change of address.

How fast will PIP-MARK-VIN ship?

Production runs four to five business days plus transit. Synthetic stocks need a cure or dwell step after printing that card does not, which is where the extra day goes. You approve a print accurate proof before payment is taken, and that proof comes from the same engine that generates the file the press receives, so what you approve is what gets printed. There is no separate proofing round trip by email.

Can PIP-MARK-VIN be serialized?

This product is not serialized. It carries your imprint and the service fields but no unique scannable code, because its function is evidence of a single event rather than a device history. Where you want a scannable record for the same equipment, pair it with a serialized tag on the same visit.

Proof approval, reprints and what happens if an order arrives wrong are the same for every product: how ordering works.
