What this is for

Backflow assemblies live in vaults, pits, and exterior enclosures, which is why this is Tyvek rather than card. Fields cover the four test points plus the tester certification number, because that number is the thing a water purveyor checks first and the most common reason a report gets rejected.

In service

Backflow assemblies sit in pits, vaults and mechanical rooms that flood. Tyvek is specified here for exactly that: it is a spun polyethylene, so standing water does not soften it and it does not delaminate the way coated card does.

How it fails

Tyvek survives the water and loses to the pen. Water based ink beads and lifts off the surface once it is wet again, so a test record written in the wrong pen is legible on the day and blank by the next annual.

Who fills it in

The certified backflow tester, at the assembly, immediately after the test. The gauge readings go on the tag before the test kit is packed away, because reconstructing them later is how numbers get transposed.

Common questions

How long does tyvek last on backflow prevention assembly?

Effectively tear proof and unaffected by water, so the limit is ink abrasion rather than the substrate. Costs meaningfully more than card and takes pen slightly less crisply, so a technician writing small in a hurry can smudge a field. For backflow prevention assembly specifically, the question to ask is where the units actually sit: the same stock behaves very differently in a conditioned corridor and in an unconditioned plant room.

What does TAG-BF-TYV cost at my volume?

$0.49 per unit at 100, falling to $0.36 at 1,000 - about 27 percent less per unit at the top break. The full table is on this page and there is no quote step. The entry break is 100 units and the top break is 1,000. Per unit that is a 1.4 times difference, which is worth doing the arithmetic on rather than guessing: take your annual device count, add what you expect to add this year, add about ten percent for spoilage and re-tags, and order to the break that number crosses. Buying past it is buying storage rather than savings, and stock held for years is stock that outlives a licence renewal or a change of address.

How fast will TAG-BF-TYV ship?

Production runs three to four business days plus transit, which is the fastest path on the site. Card and Tyvek print and cut in one pass with no cure step. You approve a print accurate proof before payment is taken, and that proof comes from the same engine that generates the file the press receives, so what you approve is what gets printed. There is no separate proofing round trip by email.

Do I have to use the serialization on TAG-BF-TYV?

Each unit prints with a unique code and a QR. The first scan binds it to a device and a location; every scan after that opens the inspection form for that device type and writes a permanent record. The building owner and the authority having jurisdiction can scan the same code and read the history without an account or a phone call. If you never scan anything, the inspection tag still works as an ordinary one, so nothing is lost by ignoring the feature.

Proof approval, reprints and what happens if an order arrives wrong are the same for every product: how ordering works.
